Special Terms and Conditions

In addition to the CTL standard conditions of sale, the special terms and conditions listed below apply to the KHV screening PCR test.

You will be asked to confirm that you agree to these terms and conditions when you place the order.

1. The instructions for customers must be correctly followed.
2. Cefas Technology Limited accepts no responsibility for samples failing to arrive in a timely manner or in a satisfactory condition. Samples arriving in an unsatisfactory condition will not be tested, in these cases another sample will be requested from the customer via email.
3. CTL will use standard documented protocols based on the best available techniques but no warranty is implied regarding the sensitivity or specificity of the tests.
4. The test is a 40 cycle, single round polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using published KHV primers sequences.
5. No live fish or samples will be returned. All samples will be destroyed one month after the evaluation report has been sent to the customer.
6. The results are applicable to only those fish from which samples were taken and tested.
7. No assurances can be given that infection has not occurred in the stock or stocks since the samples were taken, or will not occur in the future.

Koi Herpesvirus (KHV) Screening PCR Test (Sample of 30 Live Fish)

A negative test on all 30 fish, based on the assumption that the sensitivity and specificity of the test is 100%, indicates that there is a 95% confidence level that the prevalence of KHV in the population (from which the fish came ) is less than 10%. 

Koi Herpesvirus (KHV) Screening PCR Test (Sample of 150 Live Fish)

A negative test on all 150 fish, based on the assumption that the sensitivity and specificity of the test is is 100%, indicates that the prevalence of KHV in the population (from which the fish came) is less than 2%.

Results will normally be returned by email within 8 working days of reciept of the samples. Written (signed and posted) results are available on request subject to an additional charge of £10+VAT.
