Herring spawning sensitivity in the Eastern English Channel

Mean relative abundance of herring larvae from the ICES International Herring Larvae Survey (IHLS) database for 1998 to 2002. Data provided by the Institute of Marine Research, Kiel, Germany.

Gardline herring spawning sensitivity data was generated by way of an acoustic classification of the seabed that has been interpreted in terms of the potential for herring spawning.

This work was conducted to investigate the proximity of proposed aggregate extraction sites in the eastern Channel to herring spawning grounds.
