Reader and Software

The temperature and pressure sensor recording profiles can be programmed independently of each other by the customer using the Reader and G5 host software.

G5 Host Software

The host software is MS Windows-based and has been designed to be simple and robust ensuring that the user can easily set the desired recording parameters.

The software then gives a visual estimate of how the memory will be used with the proposed recording parameters.

Data is output in .CSV format allowing easy manipulation and analysis in packages such as MS Excel and SPSS.

Reader

The reader has been designed to be as straight-forward as possible with minimal fuss needed to download the data or adjust the recording parameters.

The tag can be easily inserted and securely held in the reader using two spring-loaded terminals, enabling use in demanding conditions such as rough seas.

This is our preferred system to ensure our tags offer robustness and reliability in practical situations.  At present we are not satisfied that wireless technology can meet these expectations in a cost-effective manner.

The reader is connected to a PC or laptop via the serial port.  For users with only USB ports a Serial-USB adapter (not supplied) can be used.
