New developments

We are always looking at ways of developing the G5 further. Below are some of the features that we are currently developing.

We are always happy to discuss developing additional features - If you need something specific please contact us.

Feeding sensor

We have developed a modified version of the G5 DST which can monitor the feeding rates of fish. The tag monitors jaw movements, and hence feeding in fish with semi-protrusible jaws.

The tag can be programmed to log data for short periods (e.g. 1 hour) on separate, pre-defined, occasions so that feeding trials can be extended over many months.

In laboratory studies, cod fed successfully on numerous occasions and jaw movement data have been obtained during ventilating, yawning, and feeding.

The tag can also be used for monitoring movements of the cloacae of female cod as a means of identifying spawning activity.
